Back to Square One?

California Supreme Court ruled to uphold Prop 8.

Am I shocked? Nope.
Am I disappointed? a bit.
Am I angry? not at all.

Why, you ask?

Because we simply started a fight we are passionate for that we weren't ready to fight. Before you get all upset, please listen to what I have to say, it's important!

Let's look at the strategies.
Against same sex marriage- In California for instance they got signatures, got in on the ballot and did what successful political groups do. They used scare tactics into people. They used anti-thoughts of "sanctity of marriage" and "traditions" as a tool for pushing their beliefs onto others. They followed the system and used it to their advantage.
Pro same sex marriage - In California and other states, we tried to use the courts instead of the democratic process as our tool for pushing our beliefs onto others.

It's clear I'm not against same sex marriage. Personally, it's ridiculous to think we, "the leaders of the free world" are liberating places like Iraq for instance, yet our own citizens do not carry the same liberties. We as a whole define and classify citizens and pass out "what is deemed" appropriate afflictions.

So who do we blame for Prop 8?
Sure it's hypocritical for a church to turn they backs on homosexuals. Not all do, but it's a clear majority there are hypocritical Churches funding the fight against same sex marriage?........or.................

Ourselves for not educating people, for crying about it and getting angry then going to bed, getting up the next day onto our everyday life and simply bitching instead of doing. ITS OUR FIGHT! It's the heart of what democracy entails. If you don't like something it's your burden to educate and fight. We need to learn the system better and realize where we can slide into and out of. For lack of cheesiness "If you're not a part of the solution then you are a part of the problem" We need to organize better, become unison, get people involved that can lead us and be our voice and face. Who is our face and voice? I can't say I know.

So go ahead and be angry or upset tonight, but when tomorrow comes and you do nothing to better the cause then you, my friend, are just as much of the problem and nothing of the solution.

My day tomorrow, will be registering to vote in NY. (I kept mine in Missouri for the Presidential Election).
My day tomorrow, will be starting with a letter to my State Legislature.
My day tomorrow, will be finding out what organizations are in my area where I can help the fight.

What will your tomorrow consist of?
