Or so it has always been in my family. We usually gathered around the lake somewhere at the end of June, beginning of July for as many summers as I can remember. Well this year was different, my family came to see me in NY instead. I had a great week! It was the first time I've seen my brother and mom since I left last August (so nearly a year) and we had a GREAT time!
Lots of sightseeing and touristy things of nature. My brother was hilarious. He wasn't too sure of Kyle, he just kept staring at him at first not knowing what to think, but warmed up after a couple games of Wii bowling. I miss having my family close by, but we stay in good touch and I think they'll be out more since they realized it wasn't too crazy in NYC.
With that being said, I sit here now thinking about my dad. He's not quite there yet with me, and it's our family tradition to just ignore things we don't like and pretend all is well in the "Cleaver" homestead. It's been nearly two years since he's known and hasn't made an effort yet. I understand change is not comfortable and everyone needs some time, but I don't want to miss out. I am going to try to write him one more time to see if he wants to be a part of my life, he can't just have half of me. I have a great life now with someone I truly love and treats me well. Don't get me wrong he still calls occasionally and takes my calls as well, but it's just an unspoken part of my life that I don't want it to be UNSPOKEN. So if you pray, pray for him. Pray that he comes to terms with this and can move forward.
Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!
